The Woodbridge and District Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is launching a campaign against illegal parking in Woodbridge town centre.
From January, the team will be dramatically increasing high visibility patrols on Cumberland Street, Thoroughfare, New Street and Market Hill and dealing robustly with offending vehicles by issuing fixed penalty notices.
Acting Sergeant Rebecca O’Neill of the Woodbridge and District SNT says, “Members of the public have highlighted illegal parking as a priority for the SNT at the last Community Panel Meeting. Officers will have a zero tolerance approach when out on patrol.”
The next Community Panel Meeting, whereby members of the public can help set the priorities for the SNT is on 7th January at Sutton Heath Community Centre, Easton Road at 7pm.

In the unlikely event that you're wondering what illegal or otherwise selfish, bad parking looks like, here are a few examples I've spotted while walking around town. From some of the images you will see that not only are the drivers probably committing a parking or obstruction offence, they are genuinely inconveniencing, and adversely affecting the safety of, other drivers and pedestrians, particularly those with impaired mobility, such as mothers pushing young children in buggies who might have to walk into the road, with their back to traffic flows.
