Woodbridge Rugby Club
30th November 2009

England legend Dean Richards took a break from controversy to attend Woodbridge Rugby Club’s 2009 Guest Speaker Dinner on Saturday evening.
In relaxed mood and agreeably open to all questions, Dean enjoyed sausage and mash at what he described as “a proper rugby club“.
Seventy or so rugby fans - Vice Presidents, players and their guests - warmly applauded as the most capped No 8 in the world recollected some lurid events and colourful characters he has encountered over decades in the sport, including three World Cups. Recent events at Harlequins surfaced but only in some self-deprecating humour recalling his past in the police force.
Club President, Rob Simpson, commented “The Club was delighted when Dean accepted it’s invitation and a touch awestruck to have the winner of 48 England and 6 Lions caps at our clubhouse - quite aside from his imposing physical presence! He is an entertaining speaker and enjoyed our hospitality to the early hours”.
