Deben Events, organisers of the successful Woodbridge Vintage & Contemporary Market, is aiming to bring the atmosphere of a European-style Christmas market to Woodbridge, with the Festive Market on Saturday 12th December from 9.30am to 4pm.
The seasonal market will take place in the historic setting of Market Hill and the Shire Hall, and will include 40 covered stalls selling a wide range of goods and food for unusual Christmas presents.
Richard Ginger of Deben Events, says, “We’ve had a great reaction to our two summer markets in Woodbridge, with more than a thousand people attending each one. For the December market we decided that we wanted to bring some of the magical atmosphere of the Christmas markets found in European cities like Munich and Prague to the town. The traditional setting of the town’s Market Hill and Shire Hall makes it the perfect location to discover some shopping with a difference.”
The market will include a wide range of stalls, all stocked with unusual ideas for Christmas presents, including homemade cards, contemporary homewares, clothing and jewellery, alongside some tempting food stalls selling local produce, such as cheeses, cakes, sweets and treats. There will also be the chance to pick up a Christmas tree, hear some festive music in a relaxing atmosphere and try some freshly roast chestnuts.
Sarah Hill, fellow organiser of the market, says, “We’ve had enquiries from some really interesting stall holders, selling everything from bowler hats to handbags, jewellery and wonderful food. The mix of stallholders we’ve invited to this event have been chosen because they’ll be providing some great ideas for unusual Christmas gifts.”
Sarah continues, “We want people to really make a day of it in Woodbridge, visiting the market and independent shops, soaking up the seasonal atmosphere, including brass band music from the Woodbridge Excelsior Band and The Suffolk Singers, seeing the town Christmas tree, and rediscovering the simple pleasure of buying presents for loved ones.”
There will be stalls with vintage clothes - perfect for really making a statement and standing out from the crowd during the party season!
Marion Wells of Woodbridge Town Centre Management, comments, “These markets offer something different and create a really lively atmosphere in this lovely and historic part of the town.”
