A two-night exhibition of paintings at Top Floor Studio in Woodbridge in July was so successful that it is being repeated on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 November. The exhibition featured paintings by the Roberts family of artists, John, Annette and Joanna, and was mounted to celebrate John’s 50 years of painting in Woodbridge.
John says, ‘A number of people who missed it last time have asked us to repeat the exhibition. There will be some new work from all three of us and the difference in our styles of working should, we hope, make for interesting evenings.'
‘People seem to like coming into the gallery in a situation where they can view the pictures in a bit of a crowd and with a drink in hand. They feel able to relax and enjoy the paintings and a chat without feeling under pressure.’

Joanna paints a portrait of John, with Annette looking on.
Top Floor Studio is perhaps best known for its photographic and commercial design work. But now a strong interest in the trio's paintings has enabled the three artists to devote more time to what has always been their first love. John, whose works sell all over the world, says: ‘Painting has always been my core interest, whether in watercolour or oils, and whether portraits or landscapes, and I particularly love the streetscapes and riversides of this part of Suffolk, and local scenes will feature strongly in the show.’
John's wife, Annette trained in biology and botany, and specialises in painting the local flora and fauna.
Daughter Joanna has a particular talent for drawing and painting children and animals, so together the family covers all kinds of subjects.
The exhibition is open to the public on both nights at 5.00pm on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 November. Top Floor Studio is next to the Riverside Theatre, Quayside, Woodbridge, IP12 1BH. Entry is free.
