The Maritime Woodbridge organisation is running a boat auction and boat jumble sale on 18 October, to raise funds for Maritime Woodbridge 2010, the nautical show that attracted more than 11,000 visitors when it was last staged in 2008.
The auction and jumble organiser, Moray MacPhail, urges boating people to “Empty your sheds and make lots of money – or fill your sheds at bargain prices!” He reckons the sale, which will be an annual event, will fill an important need, because there is no other such sale in the area. Local boat yards, marinas and other marine related businesses, as well as yacht clubs, will be contributing items for the sale, but MacPhail stresses the importance of attracting plenty of individual sellers to the event.
Items can be anything maritime related, small or large, boats, pictures, books or equipment. Bigger ticket items will be more appropriate for the auction. James Neale of Woodbridge auctioneers and estate agents Neale Sons and Fletcher, has kindly volunteered his services to conduct the auction.
Lower value items will be more suitable for the jumble. Cost of a 2m wide pitch is just £15 if booked in advance, £25 on the day. All details and terms for both auction and jumble are on the Web site www.maritmewoodbridge.org.uk
The event will be based in the Woodbridge Community Hall and car park on Station Road (the B1438 IP12 4AU). It will be open to the public from 10.am, with the auction starting at 1.30pm. Admission £2 for adults, accompanied children free. Car parking is free. Refreshments will be available.
An auction catalogue will be available online from 5 October or in a paper version on the door for £2.
