Councillors from Woodbridge Town Council have voted to award the Potter Cup (and cheque for £50 for the period 2008/2009), to Peter & Georgie Bacon for their long term involvement in the annual Mammoth Bazaar held at Woodbridge Community Hall. The two day event raises thousands of pounds each year for Woodbridge Community Council which funds various clubs, events and charities in the town.
The cup is awarded each year to an individual or organisation who has made an outstanding contribution to the life or name of the town in the preceding twelve months and nominations are sought each year from members of the public.
Previous winners of the cup: The 5th Woodbridge Sea Scouts, Mr Daniel McLeavey, Mr Jonathan Rattle and Mr Lennie Pack (joint winners), The Company of Four, Miss Carley Brennan, Mr David Horne, The Woodbridge Rotaract Club, Mr Don Tucker, Mr Alistair Howard, The Woodbridge Community Council, The Rochford Trust, Woodbridge Town Youths Football Club and Mrs Valerie Constable.
The cup and cheque were presented by the Town Mayor, Councillor Les Binns after the meeting of the Town Council at the Shire Hall, Woodbridge on Tuesday 17th March 09.
