This will be my last newsletter as your Town Mayor. The last 12 months have been enjoyable, meeting up with the Community and carrying out many engagements outside the Town.
During my term of office I have visited many places including Rochford House - meeting staff and members, New Street School, Kyson School and The Abbey. These have been most interesting, hearing from the young people about the various projects in the Town.
I have sponsored three Coffee Mornings at the Shire Hall during the year for Macmillan Nurses, The St. Elizabeth Hospice and finally the Suffolk Punch Trust. The latter managed to raise over £750 for the Trust. My thanks go to everyone who supported these events.
Sadly still the Town is suffering from continued vandalism, including the destruction of the thatched shelter in Elmhurst Park. This will be greatly missed by the local people and visitors to our Town. We certainly hope that the Council will do their utmost to replace this in due course.
On the brighter side, Kingston Field Play Area has recently had some new play equipment and a junior Slam Dunk Court installed.
Woodbridge Town Council has joined the campaign to become a Fair Trade Town.
The Seckford Pavers are still available to purchase. Leaflets can be obtained from the Shire Hall.
Just recently there was a bi-election in Farlingaye Ward following the sad loss of Councillor Anni Healey. The successful candidates were:-
Councillor Mrs Diana Ball - Elected to Suffolk Coastal District Council
7 Moorfield Road
Woodbridge IP12 4JN
Telephone 01394 385284
and
Councillor Miss Sally Bull - Elected as a Woodbridge Town Councillor
11 Wilderness Lane
Woodbridge IP12 1EH
Telephone 01394 384930
Finally, I would like to express my thanks to Mrs Chris Walker -Town Clerk, her staff and my fellow Councillors for their co-operation, guidance and support during this last year.
My very best wishes to the incoming Mayor and Deputy Mayor for 2005/06.
