99b. Apparently many of those serving with the USAF had their "Leaving Jolly Ole England" party here at the 17th century Ship Inn at Blaxhall.

99c.Do you remember this 'Blank'? (half Bloke, half Yank) Yes, it is Jim Grubbs!  He ran the Ship for many years but sold the Ship at Blaxhall and retired, with his wife Susie, to Middleton. This pic taken 6 August 1997. The beer pump is for Adnams Broadside bitter
Jim Grubbs died in April 2004 - read an obituary here.

99d.This is Geoff Ling, who has entertained many at the Ship, with his country singing.  Geoff is 86 this year (2002) and was still in good voice when the picture was taken in 1997 but in August 1998, Geoff moved to Saxmundham, so won't be seen at the Ship so often. That's a pity.
