Bigger and better than ever – the next Woodbridge Vintage & Modern Market will be a two-day ‘mega-market’, taking place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June, packed with the best in vintage and contemporary furniture, unusual interior items, chi-chi summer fashions and irresistible one-off pieces that make a house a home.
Deben Events, the organisers of the popular event on the Market Hill and The Shire Hall in the delightful market town of Woodbridge, said that demand for stalls has been amazing and ‘The Woodbridge Weekender’ will bring a huge selection of stalls to the town’s Market Hill each day from 10am to 4pm.
Sarah Hill of Deben Events, said, “The markets just keep getting better and we’ve been amazed by the demand from traders who recognise the event as the original and best vintage and contemporary market in this area. We thought it would be a great idea to run the market over two days, mixing up the stalls, to make it a little bit different each day.”
With over 40 stalls lined up for the Saturday and Sunday, local traders will be joined by those coming from as far afield as London, Norfolk, Essex and Buckinghamshire. Visitors can expect to find everything from antiquarian books, screen-printed textiles from contemporary designers and hair styling and braiding, to retro radios, twentieth-century ceramics, modern art and classic furniture.
The market will also have a varied menu of eating options, including al fresco paella from The Cooks’ Shed and wholesome, local food from Peakhill Farm Canteen. Fellow market organiser, Richard Ginger, said, “What better place can there be to start the summer than a couple of relaxing days in one of Suffolk prettiest market towns, soaking up the atmosphere of a different kind of market? We’ve got some great stalls lined up over the two days and it promises to be a unique shopping experience that brings people face-to-face with some passionate producers and traders.
On Saturday, Woodbridge plays host to one of the region’s most successful ensembles, The Ipswich & Norwich Co-op Band. The FREE concert, sponsored by local hearing care specialists, The Hearing Care Centre, is being held on Saturday 12th June 2010, between 2-4pm, in the beautiful setting of Elmhurst Park. There will be free car parking available at the Suffolk Coastal District Council offices on Melton Hill for the event.
The Ipswich and Norwich Co-op band, the current Champion Band of East Anglia, promote great Brass Band music suitable for all generations with a repertoire that ranges from Classical to Modern, Musicals to Big Band plus the Traditional Brass Band Marches and Overtures. There will be traditional afternoon tea and cakes served in aid of the East Anglian Children’s Hospices’ TreeHouse Appeal.
Karen Finch, Managing Director of The Hearing Care Centre said, “It promises to be a great afternoon of entertainment. All of our team will be down there making sure everyone has an excellent time. We really want to be involved with the local community in Woodbridge, and we thought that this was an excellent opportunity to show that and to support the TreeHouse appeal.”
The Hearing Care Centre operates locally from the Framfield Medical Centre in Woodbridge, and has 12 other centres across the county. “Bring all the family down, and enjoy the brilliant live music”, Karen added.
Marion Wells of Woodbridge Town Centre Management, said, “It looks like it will be another great weekend to visit Woodbridge. The Woodbridge Vintage and Modern Market deliver a unique shopping experience and Elmhurst Park is the perfect setting for a relaxing with music and a picnic. The town promises to be very busy and there will be FREE parking at SCDC Offices, Melton Hill, IP12 1AU on Saturday 12th June.”
